Squares is an entertaining puzzle game in the tile matching style. This Flash game is free to download, and there is also an online version that you can play at NovelGames.com.
At the beginning of the game you will be presented with a 4 x 4 grid with gems of several colors. If you place your mouse over the grid you will see that the cursor turns into a frame that surrounds four gems. The idea is to rotate the frame in such a way that four gems of the same color form a square, which can be of any size and orientation. At first you can rotate the frame into one direction, but as you advance you can use the space bar or the arrows on the screen to switch directions.
The objective is simply see how far you can get and how many points you can obtain the short while the game lasts. The bar at the top of the screen indicates the time left, and it is reloaded every time you manage to form squares. If your total score is high enough you can send it to the online rankings or just share it with your friends in Facebook, Twitter, or MySpace right from within the game.
Squares is far from being a game that you can play for hours; it is in fact just a pleasant game to play when you have a few minutes to spare. Graphics are nice, colorful, and from the gear button you can switch to full screen mode and adjust the sound volume.
